Tui - Redondela ---> 31.9 km

This is a somewhat long stage; it can be shortened by spending the night in O Porriño or in the villages of Veigadaña or Rúa (Mos) . The day's route takes place in an urbanized area with a lot of asphalt ; fortunately, in 2013 an alternative route was created through the As Gándaras natural area and along the Louro River , avoiding the O Porriño industrial park , the largest in Galicia. Furthermore, the only significant climb today is the ascent to the chapel of Santiaguiño , gaining 147 meters in 3.1 km from the Mos hostel.

Redondela - Pontevedra ---> 19.8 km

A short , urban stage, though with some truly interesting sections . Today we face two climbs of 120 and 135 meters of elevation gain , respectively; they are gradual and easy , although the first one has a few challenging inclines . We can reach Pontevedra, the provincial capital , by following a beautiful riverside path (see "Al loro"); the large pilgrim hostel is located at the entrance, 1.5 km from the old town .

Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis ---> 21.1 km

A short , easy stage with very little elevation change ; it follows the N-550 and continues along comfortable asphalt or dirt tracks . About 3 km past Pontevedra, we have the option of taking the Spiritual Variant to Pontecesures , which is becoming increasingly popular among pilgrims. Today we finish in Caldas de Reis , a town famous for its thermal spas .

Caldas de Reis - Padrón ---> 18.6 km

This is perhaps the most scenically interesting stage of the Galician section of the Portuguese Way . As yesterday, we follow the N-550 ; today, however, the changes in elevation , although moderate, are more frequent . Padrón , famous for its peppers , is a town of great cultural interest ; even so, we also have the interesting option of staying overnight at the Herbón Monastery , which offers pilgrims hospitality reminiscent of bygone days .

Padron - Santiago De Compostela ---> 24.4 km

This final stage of the Portuguese Way runs largely along asphalt and through urban areas , following the N-550 , which we crossed four times today. Regarding elevation changes, the moderate and gradual climb to Agro dos Monteiros in O Milladoiro is worth mentioning. In terms of cultural highlights, besides Santiago and its extraordinary cathedral , the Collegiate Church of Iria Flavia , the first cathedral in Galicia, is noteworthy; in its cemetery, beneath an olive tree, lies the humble tomb of Camilo José Cela , Nobel Prize laureate in Literature .
