ITINERARY

OURENSE - CEA ---> 22.3 KM

Short stage. Today we can choose between two well-marked routes: the official route through Tamallancos and the alternative via Canedo , which shortens the route by approximately 1.1 km. In both cases, a challenging climb awaits us at the start , as we must ascend from 115 meters above sea level in Ourense to 525 meters in the town of Cea. Both options are appealing, although the route through Tamallancos is usually preferred due to its shorter stretches of paved road.

CEA - DOZON ---> 19.8 KM

A short and easy day trip that takes us into the most mountainous and rural part of Galicia, filled with lush landscapes, passing through small parishes and scattered villages. There is a highly recommended alternative route through Oseira that adds 4.3 km to the journey, but in return offers the opportunity to visit its impressive Cistercian monastery . The pilgrim hostel in Castro Dozón closed permanently in 2023 ; however, shared accommodation is available in the area.

DOZON - SILLEDA ---> 28.0 KM

A short and pleasant stage, with an easy route that takes us through mountainous, green, and authentically rural Galicia, passing through small villages and charming spots. There is an alternative route via Oseira , which adds 4.3 km to the itinerary, but is well worth the visit to its spectacular Cistercian monastery . The pilgrim hostel in Castro Dozón closed permanently in 2023 ; however, there is still accommodation available in the town with shared rooms for overnight stays.

SILLEDA - OUTEIRO ---> 23.9 KM

Today's stage follows comfortable tracks, both paved and unpaved, with the usual but mostly gentle inclines. The only exception is the steep descent into the Ulla River valley , followed by a somewhat easier climb to Outeiro . The route ends in the tiny hamlet of Outeiro , which has no facilities, but does have a hostel run by the Xunta (Galician regional government) in a peaceful and picturesque rural setting.

OUTEIRO - SANTIAGO ---> 16.7 KM

A very short stage, which will allow us to reach the cathedral before noon and attend the Pilgrim's Mass . The route, with moderate inclines, is more pleasant than it might seem, being so close to a large city: the first three kilometers wind through forest; then we continue through rural areas with villages and scattered houses, before finally tackling the inevitable urban section that leads us to the Plaza del Obradoiro. At the foot of the imposing Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela , our almost certainly unforgettable Silver Route comes to an end.
